Wedding + a celebration of life : Jordan and Elise

Jordan was studying to get his BSc in Environmental Science and Elise was working towards her BA of Social Sciences when they both met during their freshman year in the cafeteria of Trinity Western University.  A few months after, their friendship began and in March of 2010, Jordan and Elise began their dating relationship.  Spending the following 2 summers apart was hard for both of them with either Jordan or Elise traveling abroad for travel study.  In January, Jordan decided that enough was enough and took Elise to Lighthouse Park in Vancouver, B.C. where he asked Elise to be his bride.  After both graduating in April, Jordan landed a job in his field in Calgary and so they both decided to make the move to Alberta.

I first talked to Elise over the phone shortly after Jordan proposed.  They were both so excited to be planning their wedding and I was thrilled to have been the photographer they had chosen.

The gorgeous and intimate outdoor ceremony was perfect on this crisp October afternoon.  With close family and friends, Jordan and Elise promised each other forever at the beautiful Valley Ridge Golf Club in Calgary.  There may have been a chill in the air, but it did not seem to touch Jordan and Elise as they both beamed with love and excitement as they were finally becoming husband and wife.

Only 12 days after they both said "I Do", I received an email from Elise telling me that earlier that day, Jordan was involved in a workplace accident and tragically lost his life.  I am heartbroken for the loss of Jordan's family and friends and most of all, Elise as I remember so clearly all the joy and promise of being a blushing bride.  While I cannot imagine the heartache that you have gone through and will continue to go through, Elise, I pray for wholeness and healing for you and that these images that show the love and friendship that you and Jordan had will continue to bring healing and comfort to your heart.

As you look at these photos, may they remind you of love and to cherish the ones that you have been blessed in this life.
